Actor, singer, dancer, and now children’s book writer? Glee star Chris Colfer has signed a two-book deal with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers!
The first book, titled The Land of Stories, will be released in Summer 2012 and will tell the tale of twins Alex and Connor Bailey. The fast-paced adventure series will combine the modern world and fairytales while targeting readers ages 8-12. The second novel will follow, which has yet to be titled.
“When I was 10 years old, I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to write this book, I would jump at the chance,” Colfer said in an announcement on Wednesday. “This book has been at the core of my imagination for a long time and I’m excited and nervous to share it.”
Along with fueling the imagination of children with words, Colfer is also developing a Disney Channel pilot, The Little Leftover Witch. The concept is based on Florence Laughlin’s children’s book that centers on a witch who is taken in by a family after her broom breaks and she drops out of the sky. The Glee star is writing an independent feature called Struck by Lightning, in which he will also star.
Little, Brown Books senior vice president said of the partnership, “Chris is a remarkable talent whose writing combines all the qualities kids love – memorable characters, heart-pounding adventure, in a setting filled with wonder, intrigue and enchantment.”
