David Says: O Canada! Justin Bieber Is Canada’s Best Global Ambassador!

Justin Bieber has never been shy about his love for his native Canada, and his return to his hometown this week withSelena Gomez, sure proves he hasn’t forgetten his roots—and I think it’s great!

While in his hometown of Stratford this week, Justin took his sweetheart, Selena Gomez, to Swiss Chalet. “What’s that,” you ask? Well, it’s a chain of chicken restaurants that have become a 57-year-old Canadian institution, rivaling the infamous Tim Horton’s donut chain. Justin is demonstrating you can take the boy out of Stratford, Ontatio (about two hours west of Toronto), but you sure can’t take the Canada out of the boy!I mean, have we ever seen fellow Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne bring her beauBrody Jenner to her native Napanee, Ontario??
In fact, when asked by Rolling Stone earlier this year what restaurant he would most like to fly to at a moment’s notice, he said, “I would fly to Canada and eat at Swiss Chalet and get their quarter chicken dinner. It’s so good.”
And it’s not just Justin’s fondness for Swiss Chalet, that lands him — in my book, at least — as  one of Canada’s best ambassadors, it’s his close family ties to his hometown which truly cement his relationship with the country. He hung out with dad and siblings at a local park too this week.
Plus, Justin’s a huge supporter of the Canadian media, always eager to do interviews with the Canadian entertainment TV programs, like eTalk and others.
In fact, last June I was lucky enough to be invited to the MuchMusic Awards in Toronto, where he performed — and boy, was he a fan favorite. Katy Perry also performed, but the audience went wild for Justin! It’s no wonder he’s so loved — he often tweets his Canadian fans, thanking them for their support.
And don’t forget Justin’s praise of his native land during the Rolling Stone interview, where he jokingly slammed his adoptive country.
“You guys are evil,” he said of the U.S. “Canada’s the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard’s baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby’s premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.”
Way to take up public policy, Biebs!
