Beckett rocks a superhot swimsuit. Castle's jaw drops.
Oh, sweet relief!

ABC has released its summer programming schedule, and oh-so-thankfully, our beloved crime dramedy has found a spot among its ranks.Castle repeats will air on ABC Sunday nights throughout the summer in a slightly earlier timeslot at 9 p.m. ET beginning June 19.

No word yet on whether the eps will follow chronologically, but hey, at this point, any Castle is good Castle. Maybe we’ll make it 'til fall after all.

Stana Katic Dishes About Her Castle Hiatus Plans

Stana posted this seductive picture of herself on Facebook. We hope she does more photo shoots like this!
We’re not trying to go all Rick Castle on you, but Stana Katic (Kate Beckett), let it be known: We love you. Truly.

So much so, that we’re still trying to recover from the last few scenes oflast night’s season finale — spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched! — where we not only witnessed a literal shot to your heart, but a figurative one to ours with Castle finally admitting his truly feelings. Double whammy, right there.

And according to Stana, Castle (and we!) aren’t the only peeps obsessed with Kate Beckett.

“I love that she’s flawed,” the actress told The Daily Herald. “I love that she tries to do the right thing, but she doesn’t always do the right thing. I believe in characters who aren’t perfect. I believe in people. And I believe in playing characters that are like people.”

While we doubt ABC would go all The O.C. on us and kill off its main, most beautiful character, we’re still nervous about what last night’s final scene means for the future of our favorite show, and our favorite female crime fighter.

But don’t worry, kids. Even without a spot on Castle (God forbid!), Stana’s busy, and ready to keep herself in the limelight. Case in point: She starts on her next film Big Sur this summer, where she’ll play a poet associated with Jack Kerouc and the Beat generation.

And that’s not all. Katic has an arsenal of ideas of characters she’d die (no pun intended) to portray one day.

“I’d like to play Cleopatra,” Katic said. “And I’d like to play Kate in The Taming of the Shrew. I’m already playing another Kate.” She added: “And I’d like to play Antigone.” We can totally see Stana playing the rebellious Greek girl. No joke.

But for the record, we really like her as Beckett. And as fun as it is so fantasize about Stana playing new characters — we’re fine with things just the way they are. We can only hope Castle producers agree with us!

3 Reasons Why Kate Beckett Won't Die

Beckett looks a little discombobulated after getting gassed in a courtroom in Episode 3.24, "Knockout."
What. An. Episode. Given Beckett's track record with dodging bullets (literally), the odds caught up with her last night. There was as a sad irony in the fact that after Montgomery tried to protect her in one last redemptive effort, she ended up taking a bullet at his funeral. Of course, the episode ended once she went down, and so the question remains: Was that her funeral, too?

Here are three reasons why the detective is absolutely not going to die:

1. Uh, she's Beckett.

The show is called Castle, but come on. We've already lost Montgomery — is there even the slightest chance in the world that Beckett would die, too? Aside from her being the female lead and all, there's just too much unfinished business. The guy at the helm of the Johanna Beckett murder is still unknown. Beckett would have to come back as a ghost to guideCastle, and the show would probably lose something then.

2. She didn't get shot in the head.

Not that you can't die from bullets in other locations, but given that Castle tried to push her out of the way as the shooter fired, there will probably be something next season about how the wound could have been fatal had he not intervened. That whole "quarter inch the other way and she would have been dead" business.

3. Castle told Beckett he loved her.

Like she won't come back to play this out. The bullet was kind of a red herring, really. The true cliffhanger is that the "I love you" is out on the table now. (Or out in the cemetery, rather.) If this were to follow the trajectory of other TV shows, Beckett will probably have amnesia and forget he ever said it. Can you get amnesia from a bullet to the stomach?
