Selena Gomez Gives Advice To A 7-Year-Old Fan In Canada: Stay In School!

While she was eating breakfast with Justin Bieber’s mom in Stratford, Ontario, Selena Gomez met one of her biggest fans — the diner owner’s 7-year-old granddaughter — and gave her life advice the little girl will never forget!

When Selena Gomez walked into Madelyn’s Diner accompanied by Justin Bieber‘s mom and family June 1, Madelyn Carty was stunned — and then immediately told her daughter to get her seven-year-old granddaughter, Olivia, out of school so she could meet her idol.
“Justin’s family comes here all the time but when Selena walked in yesterday morning, I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Madelyn told HollywoodLife.com in an exclusive interview. When Selena Gomez walked into Madelyn’s Diner accompanied by Justin Bieber‘s mom and family June 1, Madelyn Carty was stunned — and then immediately told her daughter to get her seven-year-old granddaughter, Olivia, out of school so she could meet her idol.
Madelyn’s daughter, Krista Moore, also works at the family owned diner and was in the kitchen cooking when she saw Selena enter the restaurant.
“I said, ‘Holy Crap, it’s Selena Gomez,’” she told us. “I immediately called my daughter’s school and said that her grandmother would be picking her up to meet Selena Gomez, but that it was a surprise. When she arrived at the diner, I said, ‘Honey, would you like to meet Selena Gomez because she’s here? I’m cooking her food right now!’”
Olivia was just so nervous at first. She said, ‘My leg is shaking. My tummy is shaking!” Madelyn added.
Krista said, “I walked Olivia over to Selena and Selena was so sweet, beyond sweet. She stood up, and said, ‘You must be Olivia’ and then they hugged each other.”
“Selena said to Olivia, ‘Did you get to get out of school to come here?’ and Olivia said ‘Yes, but I don’t want to go back now that I am here!’ Selena then said, ‘Well I graduated last year, so you will be OK. Remember the most important thing is to get your schooling!’ Krista said.
“Selena was so adorable. There was no air about her. She introduced herself to me as well. That was her way of saying, ‘I am still a person. I am just a regular girl having breakfast.’ ”
Added Madelyn, “Olivia turns 8 this Saturday and she said to me, ‘I don’t know if anything will be better for my Birthday now!’”
