How Tiffany Thornton fought for her life!

Yesterday we caught up with Tiffany Thorton, who plays Tawni Hart, on Sonny With A Chance. Tiffany was in NYC to talk about her fight against meningitis (which is a form of meningococcal disease that causes a bacteria infection to take over your body).

A couple of years ago when Tiffany was visiting her family in Texas, she started to get flu-like symptoms and had to go to the hospital because the pain was so intense! Tiff was told it was just the flu, even though she described the pain as being hit by a sledgehammer. After a while, her mom realized it had to be something worse.

Tiffany spent 10 days in the hospital getting treatment for meningitis and fighting for her life. She was even told she might lose her limbs! Preparing for the worse she said,"I wrote my best friend an email telling her how much she meant to me, and that I might not ever see her again."

Tiff was one of the lucky survivers of this horrible disease and now she's working withThe National Association of School Nurses and Voices Of Meningitis to raise awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated, so that others can avoid getting the disease.
Tiffany tells M, "I'm really excited to be a part of this campaign. I could see a DCOM about it - a Disney Channel Original Movie. I think it would be a great storyline."

Wow, what a scary experience! We're so glad Tiffany's OK!!
